The BMW Car Club of America New Mexico Chapter resumed its annual Clean Car Show on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at a new venue – the beautiful New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park in Albuquerque. The event had been on hiatus for two years during the pandemic. The event also served as a fundraiser for the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Foundation which oversees functions at the Memorial Welcome Center and assists various veterans groups with their missions.
Of the BMWs present, 21 registered for the People’s Choice competition which was won by Jim Storch from Alamogordo, NM with his 2011 E82 1M. Jim received a nice BMW Classic Canvas Art Set. Honorable Mention went to Mark Davis with his 2000 Z3 M roadster; Jon Holmberg with his 2022 G80 M3; and Peter Brisbine with his 2011 E71 X6. David Penasa was the iWinner with his 2021 i3 and received a iWater Bottle. Bob Storch from El Paso, TX with his 2000 330i received a BMW coffee mug for being the furthest away entrant.
Chapter Board Member and Driving Events Coordinator Rob Anthony was the Car Show Grand Pooh-Bah, greeting entrants and presenting awards. Rob also recognized veteran Peter Brisbine for his service to our country. Board Member and Chapter Photographer Jason Collin took plenty of photographs and Chapter Treasurer Dan Jones handled event registration. Board Member Curtis Holloway administered the People’s Choice balloting and oversaw the NMVM donation jar. Over $500 was collected and donated to the New Mexico Veterans Memorial. Many thanks to all who participated and who gave so generously!
