April 2022 Trinity Site Tour
April 2, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Mark your calendars – Saturday, April 2, 2022 the BMW Car Club of America New Mexico Chapter will host a visit to the Trinity Site near Alamogordo, NM. The Trinity Site is where the first atomic bomb was tested on July 16, 1945. The site area, declared a national historic landmark in 1975, is open to visitors only two days each year, so you don’t want to miss this opportunity.
We will meet at the Socorro Historic Plaza at 8:30 am (earlier if you wish to get coffee and/or breakfast at M Mountain Coffee on the corner of the plaza). We will then caravan out to the Trinity site out US-380 and enter through the Stallion Gate. Finally, we will plan on returning to Socorro after touring the Trinity site and having lunch at M Mountain Grill.
Important note: Trinity Site Open House participants 18 and older will need a federally recognized photo identification (passport or Real ID driver’s license) to enter the site, as well as proof of insurance and registration for their vehicle. No weapons are allowed, but pets are allowed as long as they are leashed and their waste is picked up and put into a trash receptacle. Pets are not allowed on the shuttle that takes visitors to the McDonald Ranch House, but it’s well worth the visit.
