On February 12, 2022, the New Mexico Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America held a tour to the ghost town of Chloride, New Mexico. 13 cars and 23 participants joined the drive from Truth or Consequences along the northern branch of the Geronimo Trail National Scenic Byway into the remote Black Mountains of the Gila National Forest. We then retraced a portion of the route back to Chloride and had a fantastic tour of the town and the Pioneer general store, which has been converted into a museum and looks almost exactly like it did in 1923. The drive concluded with a spirited drive back to Truth or Consequences and a photo shoot above Elephant Butte Reservoir. Participants came from El Paso and several cities in New Mexico including Farmington, Albuquerque, Alamogordo, and Las Cruces with cars spanning nearly 50 years of BMW history. A large range of vehicle types were present, including X vehicles, M cars, wagons, and a roadster.
