It wasn’t planned this way, but the BMW CCA New Mexico Chapter Taos Enchanted Circle Drive on July 16, 2022 was a New Mexico True 50 Jahre BMW M celebration with all cars participating either ///M or ///M Sport Package equipped. After appreciating the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge from the nearby meeting point on US 64, the group powered its way on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, heading north on NM 522 to Arroyo Hondo and Questa, then traveling east on NM 38 to Red River. A nice lunch was enjoyed on the covered patio at Red River Brewing Company & Distillery.
The drive continued on NM 38 through the nearly 10,000 ft. above sea level Bobcat Pass which boasted beautiful views of area peaks & valleys. The drive descended into the high alpine Moreno Valley near Eagle Nest, then on US 64 to Angel Fire and a peaceful visit at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park. The park features a museum, custom-constructed chapel, and a restored 1964 Bell Iroquois UH-1 A/C 670 Huey Helicopter which saw plenty of action in Vietnam. It then served the New Mexico National Guard for general support before they donated it to the Memorial in 1999. The ///M gods apparently smiled on the procession with only a few raindrops encountered during New Mexico’s monsoon season!
